Aware that social acceptability is an essential criterion for a project's sustainability, Guy is recognized for the quality of his actions and advice in the areas of participatory stakeholder management, sound environmental and social management, strategic human capital management, compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, and good governance of local subsidiaries.
Guy de Grandpré is a mining project development specialist. He has 20 years of experience as a manager with international mining companies in country management, stakeholder management and engagement, corporate development, and human capital management, mainly in Western and Central Africa.
In addition, he has acted as an independent expert and advisor to mining operators investing in Africa to promote best practices in project development on the ground, aim for and achieve social acceptability, and earn and maintain a “social license to operate”. He has a deep understanding of the economic, technical, environmental, and social opportunities and risks that confront the management of mining companies, particularly in the very early stages of the development cycle of their investment projects.
Prior to his professional activities in the mining sector, Guy held senior management positions in the financial sector in Quebec, where he was notably Director of Public Affairs for the Confédération des caisses populaires et d’économie Desjardins du Québec and Corporate Secretary for SSQ Financial Group.
