Trained as a sociologist and ethnographer, Sophie Dumont brings over twelve years of experience in socio-economic research, territorial analysis, and international development.
Holding a master’s degree and currently completing a PhD in sociology and feminist studies, Sophie draws on strong expertise in social statistics and intersectional analysis to support strategic decision-making for public and private organizations, both in Québec and internationally. As a Senior Advisor at Transfert, she applies her deep understanding of social, economic, and cultural dynamics to projects focused on inclusion, public participation, and impact mitigation.
Her rigorous analytical approach combines qualitative and quantitative data, along with solid expertise in survey methodology. This enables her to generate and structure complex knowledge bases and to accurately capture the local realities surrounding development projects. She excels at translating data into concrete strategies, particularly by identifying issues related to vulnerable groups, equity, and collective well-being.
Sophie’s entrepreneurial and professional background has led her to work with municipalities, government departments, consulting firms, and organizations across a wide range of sectors. She has conducted socio-economic analyses for mining projects in Québec, British Columbia, Western Labrador, and Australia, contributed to impact assessments for wind energy projects in Newfoundland and Labrador, and carried out strategic studies in the private real estate sector in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as well as in Málaga, Spain. She has also supported development programs in Papua New Guinea and Burkina Faso, where she integrated equity principles into project governance tools and practices.
