Transfert is proud to contribute to an important breakthrough for sustainable mobility in the Outaouais region. In collaboration with our partners, our team has been selected to support the TramGO project office in the design, development, and implementation of the public participation and consultation plan for the proposed tramway project in Gatineau.
This project demonstrates a clear commitment to leveraging public participation to enhance the project, anchor it within its community and foster trust among the public, Indigenous groups and communities in both Quebec and Ontario, as well as key stakeholders.
A Strategic Approach, in Line an Ambitious Project
A flagship initiative of the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO), TramGO will aim to efficiently connect Gatineau’s major hubs, notably the western sector and downtown, while ensuring smooth interconnection with Ottawa’s OC Transpo network. The scope and potentially transformative nature of the project call for the development and implementation of a rigorous, inclusive, and meaningful engagement process for the community.
Transfert will draw on its unique expertise in public participation to design a tailored approach aligned with the needs of the audiences involved and the key stages of the project’s evolution. Our team will be engaged throughout the consultation process — from strategy and the design of participatory activities, to facilitating public and stakeholder meetings, processing feedback, and, of course, analyzing the issues raised.
An Expanded Team and a Collaborative Approach
To carry out this large-scale mandate, Transfert has brought together partners who share its vision of sincere, inclusive, and constructive dialogue with communities: the Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM), Table Ronde Participation publique, and Cocoriko.
This alliance brings together complementary expertise in community relations, public participation, facilitation, and digital engagement. It will make it possible to diversify participation methods, both online and in person, to reach a wide range of audiences, including populations that are sometimes less heard in major infrastructure projects.
A Promising Process for the Future of Gatineau
Beyond meeting current regulatory requirements, the support provided by Transfert and its partners aims to make public participation a driving force behind the project.
By bringing together citizen knowledge, local concerns, and technical imperatives, the consultation process becomes a space for collective learning and continuous improvement.
Our team eager is to contribute to this important public transportation initiative, which could help shape the mobility of tomorrow in Gatineau and the surrounding region.
We thank the Société de transport de l’Outaouais, the project office, and our valued partners for their trust and collaboration. We look forward to engaging with residents of the region as part of this exciting mandate.
