In the spring of 2021, the City of Saguenay called on TES to implement a virtual citizen participation process with the community. Once a dynamic and festive part of Saguenay, Jonquière’s downtown area has become a sensitive territory over time.
Through this consultation, the City of Saguenay wanted to make downtown Jonquière an urban hub of innovation and creativity, while integrating it into a vision of sustainable development. To make this approach a success and a lever for development, it had to rely on the creation of a positive vision for the area.
Je réinvente mon centre-ville de Jonquière gave citizens the opportunity to make their voices heard through the Batissons.saguenay.ca platform and various consultation activities, creating spaces for dialogue and reflection to enhance the downtown area’s potential.
With an exceptional participation rate, this consultation highlighted key elements that have been included in the action plan for Jonquière’s special downtown urban planning program.
