The City of Beaconsfield’s participatory smart collection project for residual materials is bearing fruit: the City has noticed that citizens are taking out their garbage bins less often, reducing the amount of waste and the number of trucks needed to collect it.
TES assisted the City of Beaconsfield in planning and implementing communication activities related to the project. With these activities, the City wanted to get citizens and key stakeholders on board with its incentive-based pricing project. This approach helped raise awareness and mobilize citizens ahead of a major social change.
Thanks to these efforts, Beaconsfield has gone from being the second city on the island of Montreal with the highest waste production to the one with the lowest. This success story was even highlighted in La Presse.
